use SOH CAH TOA to remember tangent sin and cosine equations

Sin = opposite over hypotenuse Cosine Adjacent over Hypotenuse Tangent Opposite over Adjacent

tangent is also equal to sin/cos

tan B = opposite of B/adjacent of B = 3/5

cos B = adjacent/hypotenuse = 5/sqrt(34)

Sin A = opposite/hypotenuse = 5/sqrt(34)

tan A = opposite/adjacent = sin/cos = [ 5/sqrt(34) ]/ [ 3/sqrt(34) ] = 5/3
