The scale factor is 1/3. Note that there is a shape ABCD and A'B'C'D'. Usually the ' mark shown after a letter represents a copy of the image in a different way sort-of. So basically, A'B'C'D' is the scale image of ABCD. Then we look at the lengths of the sides of the shapes. We can notice that B'C' is 1 unit long, and corresponding to length BC, is 3 units long. Then, we also see from A'D' is 2 units long, and AD is 6. We do the same thing with the other sides of the shapes, and we find that each side of the smaller shape is 1/3 of each corresponding length of the bigger shape. Basically, 1/3 is the scale factor because it is the same number being multiplied to each side of the bigger shape to get each corresponding length of the smaller shape.
