Quick trick, try reword in it as I did above, in the same tense, subject and object. Or, in the case of going somewhere with him (ie: He and I went to the store.) Take out the "I" and try the sentence. "He went to the store," Sounds and is correct. This trick also works for checking "I" and "Me" usage; You'd never say, "Him and me went to the store." Because you'd never say, "Him went to the store." Or, "Me went to the store." As weird and it may feel, it's always "He and I". Hope this helps!
