The population of a town is decreasing at a rate of 3% per year. In 2005,

Explanation:

So there’s 8 years in between 2005 and 2013 and the population decreased 3% every year.

So you multiply 3% by 8 and that’s 24% which is the total decrease from 2005 to 2013.

Then you find 24% of 1600 which is 384. That’s the number of people that left from 2005 to 2013.

Now, all you have to do is subtract 384 from 1600 and that gives you the answer of 1,216.
