Answer:

y = 1.5, x =
1(12)/(13)

Explanation:

The given simultaneous equation system is;

-1 - 2·y = -4...(1)

13·x + 2·y = 28...(2)

By elimination method, we have;

From equation (1);

-1 - 2·y = -4

2·y = 4 - 1 = 3

y = 3/2 = 1.5

y = 1.5

We eliminate 'y' from equation (2) by replacing the value of 'y' with 1.5 as follows;

13·x + 2·y = 28

y = 1.5

∴ 13·x + 2 × 1.5 = 28

13·x = 28 - 3 = 25

x = 25/13 =
1(12)/(13) =
1.\overline{923076}

x =
1(12)/(13)
