y_1 represent the x and y values of one point the line intersects, substitute the x and y values of (2,-8) in the formula as well. Substitute 2 for
x_1 and -8 for

(Usually, we would simplify the double negatives on the left side to a positive, but because you have to type the values in to answer the problem and cannot change the written negative sign already visible in the equation, that would be the answer.
