Solution:

Note that:

  • S = 2J + 12
  • S = 82

Substitute the value of s into the equation to find out Jen's score.

  • S = 2J + 12
  • => 82 = 2J + 12
  • => 82 - 12 = 2J
  • => 70 = 2J
  • => J = 70/2 = 35

Jen's score was 35.

Answer:

answer below:

Explanation:

so let's do the inverse.

if Susan's score was 12 more than 2 times jen’s score, than we can work out her score by doing the inverse.

if susans score was 82, we need to minus 12 from her score and divide by 2 to get jen’s score.

82-12=70

70/2 =35.

thus, susan scored 35 marks.
