The percent grade of a test varies directly with the number of correct answers. A grade of 81 percent would result from getting 27 correct answers. What would the score be if you had 32 correct answers?

The score is 96

Explanation:

This is a problem that uses a linear equation (a line) where the y intercept is 0. See the graph below.

So for this problem, the equation is

y = kx

when x = 27

y = 81

81 = k * 27 Divide both sides by 27

81/27 = k*27/27

k = 3

So when x = 32 solve for y

y = 3x

y = 3*32

y = 96
