Vivian needs to know the area of her backyard so she can order landscaping materials. We have split the backyard into a triangle and four rectangles as shown in the diagram:

rectangle ∆ABC
rectangle CBED
rectangle DMLG
rectangle GFKJ
rectangle NEHI
Use the formulas you’ve learned to find the areas of different sections of Vivian’s yard.

Part A
To find the area of ∆ABC, find the lengths of base BC and height AB.

Answer: BC = OP (opposite sides of rectangle BCOP)

OP = 35 + 20 + 5 = 60 feet

So, base BC = 60 feet.

AB = AH – BH

AH is 66 feet.

Since CJ = BH, BH is 55 feet. (opposite sides of rectangle CBHJ)

AB = 66 – 55

So, height AB = 11 feet.

Step-by-step explanation: this is the answer
