Answer:

Explanation:

(ab)^n = a^n*b^n

so (-a)^n = (-1)^n*a^n

a^(-n) = 1/a^n

a^0 = 1 if a is not 0

9. 3^(-2)

= 1/3^2

= 1/9

11. (-5)^(-2)

= (-1)^-2*5^(-2)

= (1/(-1)^2)*(1/(5^2))

= 1/1*1/25

= 1/25

15. -3^0 = 1

17. 1/2^0

= 1/1

=1

26. k^(-4)*j^0

=(1/k^4)*1

=1/k^4

36. 7*s^0*t^(-5) / 2^(-1)*m^2

= 7*1*(1/t^5) / (1/2)*m^2

= 2*7 / t^5*m^2

= 14 / t^5*m^2

Rules in exponents:

Let's review few rules before solving.

  • x⁰ = 1 (x can be any number)
  • x⁻ⁿ (n ≠ 0 or any number below 0) = 1/xⁿ

Solution (9):

  • 3⁻² = 1/3² = 1/9

Solution (11):

  • (-5)⁻²
  • => 1/(-5)²
  • => 1/-5 x -5
  • => 1/25

Solution (15):

  • -3⁰ = 1 [x⁰ = 1]

Solution (17):

  • 1/2⁰ = 1/1 = 1

Solution (26):

  • k⁻⁴j⁰
  • => k⁻⁴ x j⁰
  • => k⁻⁴ x 1
  • => k⁻⁴ = 1/k⁴

Solution (36):

  • 7s⁰t⁻⁵/2⁻¹m²
  • => 7 x s⁰ x t⁻⁵/2⁻¹ x m²
  • => 7 x 1 x t⁻⁵ x 2/m²
  • => 14 x t⁻⁵/m²
  • => 14t⁻⁵m⁻²

Hoped this helped!
