Answer:

58

Explanation:

x= child ticket y=adult ticket

6x+9.40y=1231.60

x+y=152 rewrite the equation to y=152-x by subtracting x from both sides.

substitue for y.

6x + 9.4(152-x)=1231.60 distribute 9.4 * 152 and 9.4 * -x

6x+1428.80 - 9.4x = 1231.60 Combine like terms

6x -9.4x + 1428.80 = 1231.60 = -3.4x + 1428.80 = 1231.60 subtract 1428.8 both sides.

-3.4x + 1428.80 - 1428.80 = 1231.60 - 1428.80

-3.4x = -197.2 Divide both sides by -3.4

-197.2/-3.4 = 58

58 children tickets were sold
