The perimeter of a triangle is 37 inches. The second side is 3 times as long as the first

side. The third side is 2 inches longer than the second side. Find the length of each

Explanation:

Let x = the first side

the second side = 3x

the third side = 3x + 2

The perimeter = x + 3x + (3x + 2) = 7x + 2 = 37

7x = 37 - 2 = 35

x = 35/7 = 5 inches

3x = 3*5 = 15 inches

3x + 2 = 17 inches
