A right rectangular prism has a volume of 3536 cubic feet, and the length 8 of the base of the prism is 9 feet longer than its width. The height of prism is 26 feet. What are the dimensions of the base of the prism?

Answer:

Base = 8 * 17

Explanation:

(Not sure what the "8" is, assuming an accidental input.)

Base area = 3536/26 = 136

136 = Lw

L = 136/w

L = w + 9

136/w = w + 9

136 = w(w + 9)

136 = w² + 9w

w² + 9w - 136

(w + 17)(w - 8)

Only use the positive result. w = 8

L = 8 + 9 = 17

Edit: Maybe 8 is the answer accidentally included in the question?...
