Answer: (x-6)(x+4)

Explanation:

So firstly everything in the table is correct however this isn't the way to factor this equation. The way I use is if the what multiplies to get the third number(-24) and what adds to get the second number (-2) so the numbers 6 and 4 work but now we have to look at our signs (positive/negative). So lets look at the students answer (x+6)(x-4) although 6*-4= -24 if you add 6 and -4 you get 2 which doesn't equal -2. So the factor answer should be

(x-6)(x+4)

because -6 times 4= -24(third number) and -6 plus 4= -2(second number)
