Hey there!

[Question #1.]

8y - 5 < 3

ADD 5 to BOTH SIDES

8y - 5 + 5 < 3 + 5

CANCEL out: -5 + 5 because it gives you 0

KEEP: 3 + 5 because it help solve for the y-value

NEW EQUATION: 8y < 3 + 5

SIMPLIFY IT!

8y < 8

DIVIDE 8 to BOTH SIDES

8y/8 < 8/8

CANCEL out: 8/8 (on the LEFT side) because it gives you 1

KEEP: 8/8 (on the RIGHT side) because it helps you get the y-value

NEW EQUATION: y < 8/8

SIMPLIFY IT!

y < 1

Therefore, your answer is: y < 1 ; it is an OPEN circle shaded to the LEFT

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[Question #2.]
3p + 2 > -10
SUBTRACT 2 to BOTH SIDES
3p + 2 - 2 > -10 - 2
CANCEL out: 2 - 2 because it gives you 0
KEEP: -10 - 2 because it help solve for the p-value
NEW EQUATION: 3p > -10 - 2
SIMPLIFY IT!
3p > -12
DIVIDE 3 to BOTH SIDES
3p/3 > -12/3
CANCEL out: 3/3 because it gives you 1
KEEP: -12/3 because it helps solve for the p-value
NEW EQUATION: p > -12/3
SIMPLIFY IT!
p > -4
Therefore, your answer is: p > -4; it is an OPEN circle shaded to the RIGHT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

[Question #3.]

-2 > m/6 - 7

m/6 - 7 < -2

1/6m - 7 < -2

ADD 7 to BOTH SIDES

1/6m - 7 + 7 < -2 + 7

CANCEL out: -7 + 7 because it gives you 0

KEEP: -2 + 7 because it help solve for the m-value

NEW EQUATION: 1/6m < -2 + 7

SIMPLIFY IT!

1/6m < 5

MULTIPLY 6 to BOTH SIDES

1/6m * 6 < 6 * 5

CANCEL out: 1/6 * 6 because it gives you 1

KEEP: 6 * 5 because it help solve for the m-value

NEW EQUATION: m < 6 * 5

SIMPLIFY IT!

m < 30

Therefore, your answer is: m < 30

Good luck on your assignment and enjoy your day!
