f(x) is a quadratic polynomial, with roots represented by, α and β, where the both the sum and product of the roots are equal. For what real value of α or β, will f(x) always be undefined?

Explanation:

a+b=ab

a=b/(b-1)

b=a/(a-1)

to make a number undefined make the denominator equal to zero. so just make b-1=0 and a-1=0 so to make the polynomial f(x) undefined, b has to be 1 and a needs to be 1.

Hope this helps :)
