Help please-

The state fair is a popular field trip destination. This year the senior class at High School A and he senior class at High School B both planned trips there. The senior class at High School A rented and filled 2 vans and 5 buses with 307 students. High School B rented and filled 6 vans and 10 buses with 626 students. Each van and each bus carried the same number of students.Find the number of students in each van and in each bus.

Let x = number of students in each van

y = number of tudents in each bus

Equation 1: 2x+5y=307

Equation 2: 6x+10y=626

Part A: Which method will you use to solve this problem? (Graphing (Rewrite equations in slope intercept form first), Substitution, or elimination) ATTACH YOUR WORK

Part B: How many students can a van carry?

Answer:

Use elimination, x = 6, y = 59

Explanation:

1) Multiply Equation 1 by 2

E1: 4x +10y = 614

E2: 6x+10y = 626

2) Subtract E2 from E1

-2x = -12

x = 6

3) Substitute x = 6 into one of the equations (I used the original Equation 1)

2(6) +5y = 307

12+ 5y = 307

5y = 295

y = 59

A van can carry 6 students, and a bus can carry 59 students.
