Answer:

you have to find a common denominator and then add.

Explanation:

for example 2/4 + 4/12

you find the common denominator in this case it would be i will use 4 so 2/4 would stay the same and 4/12 would change to 1/3

*make sure to do the same thing to the numerator to so if you are dividing your denominator by 2 also do the numerator

now you have to add

2/4 + 4/12 = 6/12 (the denominator stays the same)

6/12 can be simplified (if you are asked to simplify) so it is 1/6
