The best method to solve this problem is using distributive property.

2(x + 3) = 2x + 6

5(x - 1) = 5x - 5

(2x + 6) - (5x - 5)

Open parenthesis, change the negative sign in the parenthesis to a positive sign because there is a negative sign in front.

2x + 6 - 5x + 5 = -3x + 11
