Explanation:

2x/y + y/x = 3

3x - y = 2

we first of all get the simple equation from the two equations and in this case we will use substitution method

3x - y = 2

then we make y the subject of the formula

y = 3x - 2

let's use y on the top equation to substitute

2x/y + y/x = 3

2x/3x - 2 + 3x - 2/x

like terms cancel

thus:

2x/1 + 1/x = 3

3x -2x = 1

x = 1

AND

AND since we have x, we still use substitution method to find y

3x - 2 = y

3 (1) - 2 = y

3 - 2 = y

y = 1
