If only the writing process were like… a factory assembly process or building a house from the foundation up or following a recipe to make a tasty dish. Choose a metaphor for the writing process and describe how writing is and is not like that metaphorical process. Comment on other students' metaphors for the writing process.

I would say it is like building a house from the foundation up. You start with an outline to get the basic ideas of what you want to say down (floor, walls, etc.) then you fill in the details whether that be with facts for non-fiction or imagination for fiction. (furniture, curtains, carpet, etc.) When you edit you are doing you're final clean up before it is ready to move in (turn in).
