Answer:

1.7 x 10= 17 (moving one decimal point to the right)

1.7 x 100=170 (moving two decimal points to the right)

1.7 x 1000= 1700 (moving 3 decimal points to the right)

Reflect: The decimal changes depending on the number of zeros in each multiple of ten that it is multiplied by. If it is multiplied by 10 for instance, the decimal is moved one place to the right since there is one 0, if by 100 then it is moved two places to the right since there are 2 zeros, and if by 1000 then it is moved 3 places to the right for the 3 zeros.
