angle BAD = angle CAB ---- (common)

so, therefore

ΔABC ~ ΔABD --- (by AA similarity)

by similarity in ΔABC & ΔABD

AB/AC = AD/AB

8/AC = 4/8

AC = 8×8÷4

AC = 16
