What do you think makes it difficult to find the main idea of a passage?

Answer: The reason it can be so difficult to pin point a main idea, is because lots of factors play into it. The inferencing , context clues, and supporting evidence are all key roles. When someone is analyzing a text they have to break it down and hunt for the points of the main idea. The author doesn't come right out and say "this is the main idea" you have to find it for yourself.

It is more difficult to identify a main idea when it is inferred or implied. It can be implied through other words in the paragraph.
