One of the unique features of the United States is that it has a free and independent press. How does this make the United States different from other nations that do not have freedom of the press?

Answer:

By the United States having free and independent press, this means that the press is not influenced by outside sources such as the government. Where as in other countries that do not have freedom of the press they are limited on what they are allowed to publish and often influenced by the government. For example, if you go back and look at Germany when it was ruled by Hitler all media was controlled by the government, and by doing this the people only knew what government officials wanted them to know. When you look at countries where they have freedom of the press the media is free of censorship that the government tries to put out, and the press is able to publish with out any form of government control.
