Simplify the distributive property and solve.

  • 2(x - 2) = 26
  • => 2x - 4 = 26
  • => 2x = 26 + 4
  • => 2x = 30
  • => x = 15

The solution to the equation is 15.

Let us solve this equation..!!

Firstly multiplying 2 by (x - 2)

2 × (x - 2) = 26

2x - 4 = 26

On transposing -4 to R.H.S. it would be positive,

2x = 26 + 4

2x = 30

On dividing 30 by 2 we gets,

x = 30/2

x = 15

Therefore, value of x is 15.
