What are the techniques most artists use to achieve a feeling of depth? How can these same techniques be used by floral artists?

Artists use shadows, contrast, and size difference to give depth. If a floral artist were to use these tricks to convey depth in art, they would want flowers or whatever greenery is added to the piece that is in the background to be darker and larger, and the flowers closer to the viewer to be smaller and brighter. Use lighting to convey distance!!
