Answer (if we're solving for x):

x=-7 or
(9)/(2)

Explanation:

  1. Rearrange the terms from
    2x^(2) =63-5x to
    2x^(2)=-5x+63
  2. Move the terms to the left side:
    2x^(2)-(-5x+63)=0
  3. Use the "sum-product" pattern:
    2x^2+14x-9x-63=0
  4. Get the common factor drom the 2 pairs:
    2x(x+7)-9(x+7)=0
  5. Rewrite the equation in factored form as
    (2x-9)(x+7)=0
  6. Create 2 equations from
    (2x-9)(x+7)=0:
    2x-9=0\\x+7=0
  7. This means that
    x can either be
    -7 (-7+7=0=x+7) or
    (9)/(2) ((8)/(2)=4; (9)/(2)=4.5)
