-6 and 7

Explanation:

x is one number and y is the other

(1)----------------- 8x+5y=-13

(2)------------------ x+y= 1

first, let multiply both sides of (x+y=-1) by 8

(3)----------------- 8x+8y=8

lets subtract (1) from (3)

(8x+8y)-(8x+5y)=8-(-13)=3y

8-(-13)=3y -> 21=3y

y=7

lets plug in 7 into (2) for x

x+7=1

x=-6

the numbers are -6 and 7
