The first Muslims lived on the Arabian Peninsula. A peninsula is a piece of land that is surrounded by water on three sides. The Arabian border was bordered to the northeast by the Sasanian Empire and to the northwest by the Byzantine Empire. The Arabian Peninsula is mostly covered in dry land.
