Given;

Find the value of x in the following:3(2x-1) =5(3x-15)

Solution;

  • Simplify both sides of the equation. Then subtract 15x and add 3 on both sides. Lastly, divide both sides with –9 to determine the answer.

\\ \sf = 3(2x-1) =5(3x-15)

= \sf(3)(2x)+(3)(−1)=(5)(3x)+(5)(−15)

= \sf6x+−3=15x+−75

= \sf6x−3=15x−75

= \sf6x−3− \blue1 \blue5 \blue x=15x−75 - \blue1 \blue5 \blue x

= \sf−9x−3=−75

= \sf−9x−3+ \red3=−75+ \red3

= \sf - 9x = - 72

= \sf ( - 9x)/(9) = ( - 72)/( - 9) \\

Answer;

= \sf \: \green x \green= \green 8 \\ \\
