In a certain Algebra 2 class of 28 students, 14 of them play basketball and 19 of them

play baseball. There are 5 students who play neither sport. What is the probability
that a student chosen randomly from the class plays basketball or baseball?

Number of students that play basketball = 14

Number of students that play baseball = 19

Number that play neither sport = 5

Number of students playing sports = 28 – 5 = 23

Number of students playing both basketball and baseball = 14 + 19 – 23 = 10

Number of students that play only baseball = 19 – 10 = 9

Number of students playing basketball or baseball = 4 + 9 = 13
