Jerome is a co-worker of a small company and received 1/3 of the company’s profits this year. What were the company’s overall profits if Jerome made 150,000? Type an equation and solve

The company's overall profits were 450,000.

Explanation:

We know that Jerome received 150,000. This 150,000 also counts as 1/3 of the profit, so if we put it as an equation, it gives us this:

1/3x = 150,000 We need to work out how much the overall profits are, which I've labelled as x.

x = 450,000 Here we multiply 150,000 by 3 to get x on its own, or you could also divide by 1/3.
