#1

  • Marks awarded for onecorrect answers = 3
  • Marks awarded for 12 correct answers = 3 × 12 = 36
  • Marks obtained for incorrect answers = 20 - 36 = -16
  • Marks given for 1 incorrect answer = -2

  • Therefore, ( - 16 ) ÷ ( - 2 ) = 8

hence , irene has attempted 8 questions incorrectly

#2

  • Marks scored by chloe for 7 correct answers = 3 × 7 = 21
  • chloe scored = -5
  • Marks obtained for incorrect answers = -5 - 21 = -26
  • Marks awarded for 1 incorrect answer = -2

  • Therefore , number of incorrect answer = -26 / -2 = 13

hence , chloe has attempted 13 questions not correctly

Hope it helps ( ╹▽╹ )~
