A rectangle has a length of 6 inches and a width of 8 inches. A square with a side length of 3 was cut out of it. What is the area of the remaining paper

Answer: 39 inch²

Explanation:

The rectangle's area was:

= Length * Width

= 6 * 8

= 48 inches²

The square's area is:

= Length * width

= 3 * 3

= 9 inches²

The square was cut out of the rectangle which means the area of the square should be deducted from the rectangle to find out the remaining area.

= 48 - 9

= 39 inch²
