True or false. When y is positive, the value of y^2 is always greater than the value of y. Why?

however if you have 0.5^2 which is 0.25 is that not smaller than 0.5

Explanation:

If
y=0.5, then
y^2=0.25, whereas
y=0.5.

Therefore, this is a counterexample. Hence, the statement is false.
