Write down, in terms of x, an expression for the number of oranges that she buys.

Answer:

x+2

0.70x + 0.80

Explanation:

x=number of apples

x+2=number of oranges ==> the number of oranges is 2 more than the

number of apples

1¢=1/100 dollars

30*1¢=30*1/100

30¢=30/100

30¢=0.30 ==> cost per apple

40¢=0.40 ==> cost per orange

0.30x + 0.40(x+2)=

0.30x + 0.40x + 0.40*2= ==> distribute 0.40 to x and 2

0.70x + 0.80 ==> simplify
