Which transformation creates an image that is similar but not congruent? Clockwise rotation of 15

o
and translation by 2 units toward the right
B
Translation by 5 units up, reflection along the y-axis, and dilation with a scale factor of 1.5
C
Dilation with a scale factor of 2 and then dilation with a scale factor of 0.5

The answer is choice B.)

Choice B.) contains a dilation of 150% (1.5), which enlarged the figure’s sides proportionately. Choice A.) only contains a rotation and translation, both of which preserve the congruence of a figure. Choice C.) also contains a dilation of a scale factor of 2, but then requires a dilation of .5, which cancels out the dilation because it reduces the figure by 1/2, thus back to its original scale. Lastly, Choice D.) contains only a reflection and rotation, both of which preserve the shape’s congruence.
