x - 1 = 74 ( add 1 to both sides )

x = 75

the top angle of the triangle are alternate angles and are congruent

top angle = 40°

the sum of the 3 angles in a triangle is 180°

sum the 3 angles and equate to 180

y - 2 + 40 + 74 = 180

y + 112 = 180 ( subtract 112 from both sides )

y = 68
