Equation 1 and 2 are equivalent equations. In equation 2, 5 is added to both sides, which would be a step to find x in equation 1 anyway. So, essentially, equation 2 is a simplified version of equation 1, and thus they are equivalent.

Answer:

The two equations are true for the same value because when you substitute 7 for x both of them are correct

Explanation:

1) 3(7) - 5 = 16 3(7) = 21

27 - 5 = 16 21 = 21

16 = 16 True

True
