Answer: i= -6

Explanation:

first, you want to separate the constants(Normal numbers that do NOT have i or a letter attached to them, in this case the 3 and the 8) from the -2i. To do this, you have to combine like terms first


3+8=11

Now you must subtract 11 from both sides of the equation,

11-11=0

23-11=12

you should be left with just -2i on one side, and 12 on the other side.

You now want i (the variable) by itself, so divide by the number attached to it (in this case, -2) do this for both sides.

-2i/-2= i

12/-2=-6


you are now left with your variable (i) equaling -6
