Explanation:

the rate of change (or slope for a line function) is the rate

y coordinate change / x coordinate change

for function A we see that x needs to change by 2 units, so that y changes by 1 unit.

that rate of change or slope is

1/2

for function B we see that when x changes by 1 unit, y changes by 4 units.

that rate of change or slope is

4/1 = 4

so, because 4 > 1/2, function B has the greater rate of change.
