Tim incorrectly rewrote the expression 1/2p - (1/4p + 4) as 1/2p + 1/2p - 4. Rewrite the expression without parentheses. What was Tim's error?

Answer:

1/2p - 1/4p - 4.

Explanation:

1/2p - (1/4p + 4)

= 12p - 1/4p - 4

≠ 1/2p + 1/2p - 4

Instead of writing -1/4p, Tim wrote 1/2p
