Answer:

9 sandwiches or more

Explanation:

He breaks even at 8 sandwiches

Let y = total earned

Let x = number of sandwiches

Let m = how much is made per sandwich.

Let b = the tips

y = mx + b

y = 8x + 4 Then we multiply this by 5

y = 5( 8x + 4)

y = 40x + 20 He needs to make 340 His expenses to break even

340 = 40x + 20 Subtract 20 from each side

340 - 20 = 40x + 20 - 20

320 = 40x Divide both sides by 40

(320)/(40) =
(40x)/(40)

8 = x

He will need to sell more than 8 sandwiches to make more than he loses.
