How do you apply the Pythagorean theorem to find the length of a missing side of a right triangle?

When you look at the right angled triangle, there’ll be the longest side. Square the value of the two sides which are NOT the longest and add them. This will give you the squared value of the longest side.
The equation for this is a^2+b^2= c^2
Where c is the longest side and a and b is the sides which are not the longest. Sorry I’m not the best at explaining :)
