21 Maizel wants to make snow

cone cups. If each cone has a
base diameter of 3.5 in and a
height of 4 in, how much paper
does each cone take to make?
Note: No paper is needed to
cover the base of the cone.
a) 4.4 in²
b) 24 in²

Answer:

24

Explanation:

the area of the whole cone would be

A=\pi rl+\pi r^2

l would be
l=√(r^2+h^2)

so if we substitute;

\pi *1.75*(1.75+√(4^2+1.75^2))

this gives us a total surface area of 33.6

BUT, we don't want the base of the cone, we lets subtract it by getting the area of a circle respective to the base radius.

a=\pi r^2

a=\pi *1.75^2

a=9.6

so the final area would be
33.6-9.6=24
