An online movie streaming plan has no annual fee but charges $5.50 per movie watched

Another plan charges an annual fee of $36 plus $3.50 per movie watched. How many
movies must you watch for the cost of the plans to be the same? What is the cost of each
plan when the two plans cost the same amount? Write and solve an equation.

Answer:

You need to watch 18 movies

and both the plans will cost $99

Explanation:

x= the amount of movies watched

y= total amount

The first plan equation: y = 5.50x

The second plan equation: y = 36 + 3.50x

You have to set both equations to equal each other

Step 1: 5.50x = 36 + 3.50x

Step 2: subtract 3.50x on both sides: 2x=36

Step 3: isolate the x by dividing 2: x=18

Then plug the 18 in both equations

5.50(18)= 99

36 + 3.50(18)=99
