Explanation:

Substitution is just stating one variable as another.

Lets use the first equation to substitute:

2x - 3 = -2y

2x = -2y - 3

x = -y - 1.5

Now, let's plug this in to the next equation

3x - 12y = -3

We use x as -y - 1.5 instead

3(-y - 1.5) - 12y = -3

-3y - 4.5 - 12y = -3

-15y = 1.5

y = -0.1

If we plug this back into the first equation we get x

2x - 3 = -2(-0.1)

2x - 3 = 0.2

2x = 3.2

x = 1.6
