Part a)

x - 4 = 16

added 4 to both sides; 16 + 4 = 20

x = 20

Part b)

y = x

I can plug in any value for x and the solution for y will be true.

Part c)

12 + 3x = 3x - 6

18 = 0

there are no solutions

18 does not equal 0

if you graph it the lines are parallel
