more than 5 times its width.
Find the area of this rectangle
if its perimeter is 64 in.

Explanation:

if x is the width of the rectangle, then the length will be 5x + 2

Perimeter: P = 2(l + w)

so we know P = 64, w = x, l = 5x + 2

=> 2[(5x + 2) + x] = 64

5x + 2 + x = 64/2

6x + 2 = 32

6x = 32 - 2

6x = 30

x = 30/6

x = 5

then length will be 5(5) + 2 = 25 + 2 = 27

area = l x w = 27 x 5 = 135
